I strongly recommend MDESIGN if you are looking for a top-quality, beautifully designed remodel. We selected MDESIGN because of Mila’s beautiful design concept, Ben’s assurance that he would make sure that the work was “perfect” (a big claim), and their competitive pricing. We were not disappointed! The MDESIGN team remodelled our upstairs master suite, including: 1) reimagining and recreating the master bathroom – transforming a dark, cramped area with a coffin-sized shower to an open, modern, luxurious space with a double shower, walk-in closer and a separate commode, 2) updating the bedroom/living area and installing new lighting, ceiling fans, and 3) replacing the old single-pane view windows and sliding glass doors. The results exceeded our expectations. Mila and the crew were able to take advantage of the spaces, combine many of the beautiful mid-century modern features while creating a modern, high-end, highly functional design. The quality of the work, from the new window/door installation (which is often problematic), to the exceptional finish work – tile and custom vanity counters, to the cedar panel and shingle trimming and reinstallation, showed care, craftsmanship, and an understanding of the aesthetic and functional needs.
The reason I can confidently recommend their services is that Ben and the team leaved up to Ben’s commitment of getting it perfect. Like any large projects, there are occasional new discoveries and small hiccouphs. But Ben was very responsive, had the team redo details that were not up to his high standards, and reinstall lighting when the original design didn’t feel right. I was pleased that Ben did not nickle and dime, or in fact, charge for rework and small changes, other than a scope increase that we had anticipated in the proposal, so the project was completed to full scope, with superior quality according to the original budget. The commitment to quality and satisfaction was outstanding from their team.
The one area that could have been improved was our coordination with MDESIGN on expectations and timeline for things like clearing out rooms, driveway for dumpsters, etc. The project ultimately ran longer than planned. We had a meeting later in the project to come up with a more detailed project plan, including expectations for the homeowners that really helped address this issue.
I have attached a couple of pictures, but don’t feel that they do this work justice. We have had no problems/issues after 2 months, and we have gotten rave feedback frmom visitors and guests who have stayed in the new addition. Thank you to Ben, Mila, and the MDESIGN team!
